What a QA check catches that a spell check does not
Most reports fail for the same reasons: a question asked but not answered, causation stated without a test, apportionment skipped, limits described without a measurement, or facts given without a citation. A scorecard finds those before counsel does. Fixing a report after it goes out costs more than fixing it before it leaves.
How the five domains work
Instructions answered checks that every referral question got a direct answer. Causation reasoning checks the legal test and whether pre-existing conditions were addressed. Apportionment checks whether the report allocated or gave a reason not to. Functional limits checks that each limit ties to a finding and has a duration. Evidence citation checks that every fact cites its source.
What red, amber, and green mean
Green means ready to release. Amber means revise first. Red means do not release. A single fail can pull the verdict to red when the overall score is low, because one missing answer can decide a file. Use the verdict as a gate, not as a grade to argue about.
FAQ
Questions people ask
How is the score calculated?
Each item is 2 points for pass, 1 for partial, 0 for fail. The domain score is the percentage of points earned in that domain. The overall score is the percentage across all items.
What triggers a red verdict?
An overall score below 50, or a score below 75 when any item failed. Amber covers the middle. Green needs a high score with no fails.
Who should use this scorecard?
Anyone who reviews a report before it goes to counsel: a coordinator, a peer examiner, or the author on a second read.
