What the numbers mean
The objection window is shorter than people expect
The limitation period for a civil claim is measured in years. A workers' compensation objection window is measured in days. In Ontario, an objection to a return-to-work or loss-of-earnings decision is on a much shorter clock than an objection to anything else. In British Columbia, a review request and a subsequent appeal to the tribunal are two separate windows, one after the other.
The clock usually starts on the letter
Most boards run the window from the date of the decision rather than the date it was received. That difference matters when post is slow or the letter went to an old address. If receipt is genuinely in issue, raise it with the board early rather than assuming the window moved.
Why this tool does not assert the number
Boards change these windows, they differ by decision type, and a wrong number here would be worse than no tool at all. So the presets are labelled as starting values, the number of days is editable, and the tool does the part it can be trusted with: the arithmetic, the weekend adjustment, and the reminder.
Holidays are on you
The tool moves a deadline landing on a Saturday or Sunday to the Monday. It does not know about statutory holidays, because those differ by province and by year. Allow a day or two around them, and file early.

Questions people ask
How long do I have to object to a WSIB decision?
It depends on what the decision was about. Return-to-work and loss-of-earnings decisions carry a much shorter window than other decisions. Check the decision letter, which states the window, and confirm with WSIB.
How long do I have to request a WorkSafeBC review?
The Review Division window is commonly cited as 90 days from the decision. Appealing a review decision to WCAT is a separate and shorter window. Confirm both on the letter.
Does the deadline move if it falls on a weekend?
Generally yes, to the next business day, and the tool does this. Statutory holidays vary by province and are not applied, so leave yourself room.
